Our primary school OŠ RUDOLFA MAISTRA ŠENTILJ is located in the northeast of Slovenia in a small town of 1,400 inhabitants called Šentilj. We are 15 kilometres away from Slovenian second biggest city Maribor and 1 kilometre away from the Austrian border. The school is housed in two buildings, which are 5km away from each other, and are attended by children from different villages. There are around 400 pupils aged 6-15. There is a kindergarten unit of around 180 children aged 1-6, which is also a part of our school. Some less than 100 people are employed in our organisation. These consist of 15 members of technical staff (janitors, cooks, cleaners), 4 administrative workers and 2 school management persons (the head of school and the vice-head). There are around 30 kindergarten teachers. We also have a team of counsellors (social worker, teachers for children with special needs), the rest are teachers. Being a part of this Erasmus+ strategic partnership would offer many possibilities for developing and raising the awareness of importance of climate change and other environmental challenges for everyone involved in it - pupils, parents, teachers and members of the local community. We are highly aware of the importance of coexistence with wildlife. Therefor we would like to teach "the adults of the future" how to conserve it. We feel there is still lots to be done about it in our area. We also hope it will encourage foreign language learning, while helping us to preserve and value our own mother tongue. It will provide a forum for the improvement of everyone's ICT skills and knowledge.
